Several dignitaries were on hand Friday afternoon to celebrate the opening of a new health and wellness centre in Mansfield-et-Pontefract.
Christine Landry, owner of Harmonie Haven, said that she would be offering a host of new health and wellness services to the area, in the basement of her childhood home on Hwy. 148 up the street from the red covered bridge.
A lab technician for many years at Montfort Hospital, Landry said that she wanted a business where she could combine her artistic interests with people-centred work.
“I’ve always had the dream of working from home and working in the lab, there was this human aspect that was missing. I was working on machines and computers and stuff, I didn’t have any human contact other than my colleagues,” she said. “I like to do artistic things with my hands, I like drawing and painting and stuff like that. That was missing as well.”
Landry quit her lab job to take care of her aging parents, who passed away in 2023 and 2024, leaving her their home. She said they spent a lot of time cleaning out and renovating the basement to turn it into a calming oasis for clients.
Landry said there would be nail art and pedicures available, as well as aromatouch and red light treatments. The space even features a sauna. Landry’s husband Normand Beaupré, a Reiki practitioner, will also be offering his services at the location.
“The services I offer here, we don’t have around here at all,” she said.
Pontiac MP Sophie Chatel, MNA André Fortin, MRC Pontiac warden Jane Toller, as well as Mansfield-et-Pontefract mayor Sandra Armstrong and Municipality of Pontiac mayor Roger Larose were all in attendance of the opening and wished the new proprietors well in their new endeavour.

Plusieurs dignitaires étaient présents vendredi après-midi pour célébrer l’ouverture d’un nouveau centre de santé et de bien-être à Mansfield-et-Pontefract.
Christine Landry, propriétaire d’Harmonie Haven, a déclaré qu’elle offrirait une foule de nouveaux services de santé et de bien-être dans la région, au sous-sol de sa maison d’enfance, sur la route 148, à quelques pas du pont couvert rouge.
Technicienne de laboratoire pendant de nombreuses années à l’Hôpital Montfort, Mme Landry a déclaré qu’elle voulait une entreprise où elle pourrait combiner ses intérêts artistiques avec un travail centré sur les gens.
« J’ai toujours rêvé de travailler à la maison et, en travaillant en laboratoire, il me manquait cet aspect humain. Je travaillais sur des machines et des ordinateurs, et je n’avais aucun contact humain autre que mes collègues, » a-t-elle déclaré. « J’aime faire des choses artistiques avec mes mains, j’aime dessiner, peindre, et des choses comme ça. Cela me manquait aussi. »
Mme Landry a quitté son emploi de laboratoire pour s’occuper de ses parents vieillissants, qui sont décédés en 2023 et 2024, lui laissant leur maison. Elle a déclaré qu’ils avaient passé beaucoup de temps à nettoyer et à rénover le sous-sol pour le transformer en une oasis apaisante pour les clients.
Mme Landry a déclaré qu’il y aurait des services de nail art et de pédicure, ainsi que des traitements AromaTouch et de luminothérapie rouge. L’espace comprend même un sauna. Le mari de Mme Landry, Normand Beaupré, un praticien Reiki, offrira également ses services à cet endroit.
« Les services que j’offre ici, nous n’en avons pas du tout dans la région, » a-t-elle déclaré.
La députée de Pontiac, Sophie Chatel, le député provincial André Fortin, la préfète de la MRC de Pontiac, Jane Toller, ainsi que la mairesse de Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Sandra Armstrong, et le maire de la Municipalité de Pontiac, Roger Larose, étaient tous présents à l’inauguration et ont souhaité bonne chance aux nouveaux propriétaires dans leur nouvelle entreprise.
