Earlier this week, we were informed that Winchester Press—the company that has been printing THE EQUITY for several years—would cease newspaper printing operations effective this week. This unexpected change has forced us and several other newspapers across the region to find a new printing partner on short notice.
Thankfully, we have signed an agreement with the Ottawa Citizen and Ottawa Sun to have THE EQUITY printed at their plant in Ottawa starting next week. However, because our new printing slot is much later in the day on Tuesdays, we can no longer guarantee a Wednesday delivery.
As a result, we have decided to officially move our delivery day to Thursdays starting next week. This is a bit of a throwback for us; THE EQUITY originally launched as a Thursday paper in 1883 before shifting to Wednesdays in 1969.
You will also notice a slight change to the physical dimensions of the paper. THE EQUITY will become a little thinner and taller (wouldn’t we all be so lucky?), but no other layout changes are anticipated.
Business as usual online:
- The digital version of the paper will still be published on Tuesday afternoons.
- You will see an increasing amount of content published on our website throughout the week as news breaks in our community.
We want to thank Winchester Press for their years of service and look forward to delivering your “new” Thursday paper starting next week!
If you experience any issues with delivery during this transition, please drop us an email at support@theequity.ca.
