THORNE Jan. 25, 2021

A minor earthquake had some people feeling the ground shake north of Shawville on Jan. 25 in the early afternoon.

The event was recorded by Earthquakes Canada as a 2.8 on the Richter scale which occurred 14 km north of Shawville, 18 km deep. Several dozen residents posted in a Ladysmith and Otter Lake Facebook group that they felt some shaking and that some even heard a loud noise, at around 1:15 p.m.

No damage had been reported.
