Happy back-to-school week to the elementary and high school students in our area. I can’t believe it is time for school again. This summer just flew by.  Wishing all of the kids, teachers and staff all the best for this school year.  I hope it is a more normal year than the past one.

On Saturday, the Quyon Lions Club hosted an ATV Poker Run. It started at Gavan’s Hotel and sent participants all over the Pontiac, then returning to Gavan’s for a hot dog barbecue and prizes.  It is wonderful to see some activities starting to return to the community.  Kudos to the Lions for organizing this one and I hope everyone had a great day.

The Quyon Pastoral Charge is returning to in-person worship services starting this Sunday, at Wesley United Church in Beechgrove at 10:30 a.m.  It will be our first time back in the building since March of 2020.  COVID-19 protocols will be followed and for those who are not yet comfortable returning, the service will be posted to the church Facebook page later in the day.  Another little slice of normal returning, and I am looking forward to it.

Sending big birthday wishes to Reese MacKechnie and Stacy Johnston who are both celebrating today.  Happy birthday to Therese Demell on Sept. 2, to Wendy Provost on Sept. 3 and to Glenna Campbell and Adam Johnston, both celebrating on the Sept. 7.  Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.

The Labour Day long weekend is now upon us and for many it will mean a return to the Shawville Fair.  I hope everyone has a safe and fun fair weekend. I’m going to be holding a Watkins pop-up sale and family yard sale this Saturday, at my place, so be sure to stop in on your way up to the fair.  There will be lots of goodies for everyone.  Enjoy the weekend of rest, relaxation, and fair fun.
