A neighbour had a rude awakening the other morning. She opened her eyes to see an intruder in her house. Thankfully she was not hurt, but the emotions that follow such an event are a lot to deal with. And so it is when we are hit with unexpected events. Big or small, life’s storms . . . .

shake up our world and leave us struggling to make sense of it all. It is at those times especially that we need something secure to hold on to.

God is unchanging and He has not left us or His creation unattended like an absentee landlord. His presence is seen everywhere if we look closely. The changing seasons, the geese heading south, the leaves falling as trees prepare for winter, the air we breathe, all things made for our good. When it does go wrong, our heart cry affirms that it wasn’t meant to be this way. Then, if we look, really look, we will see there is a Creator who is near and who will one day make all things new.
