The gymnasium at École secondaire Sieur-de-Coulonge was full of eager volleyball players on Saturday for a tournament by and for the graduating class.
Organizer Emma-Lee Charette said that she had organized the tournament as a class project, to raise money for the Secondaire 5 class’ year-end trip to Niagara Falls.
“I had a lot of help doing it, from my teachers and the kids around me. A lot of people came to play,” she said.
In total eight teams and 56 players were in attendance, raising more than $1,100 in entry fees alone.
“Im just really grateful for the people that showed up to help me and support my project,” Charette said.
Teacher supervisor Sebastien Beaudoin said that he was pleased with what Charette had accomplished.
“It’s the students that organize all this, it’s Emma, she did a wonderful job, I’m proud of her,” he said. “This year she took on the whole organization.”
