CHAPEAU April 14, 2019
On April 14, around 60 Pontiac parents and their children gathered in the basement of the Harrington Community Hall in Chapeau for the annual Easter Party put on by the R.A.
With various activities to take part in, including an outdoor Easter egg hunt, cookie decorating, craft-making and not to mention an appearance from the Easter Bunny himself, the event had all sorts of things to offer in terms of entertainment value.
A professional photographer was also on hand to take pictures of the children with the bunny.
According to Chapeau R.A. president Mariette Sallafranque, the event served as a fundraiser for the community and also to give residents and R.A. members an opportunity to get together for an Easter celebration.
“Members are mostly young mothers,” said Sallafranque. “So, this event is for them, their children and grandchildren. We don’t make that much money with this, so it’s mostly just to give back to the community. It’s for the children from here to have a good time.”
With around 40 children present, the event is one that the community looks forward to every year, according to Sallafranque. Happy with the overall turnout, she was thankful to the community for their continued support of the R.A’s events.
“The events have become very well attended,” said Sallafranque. “They’re usually well-organized with a variety of activities for the kids. They all come out to this. Mom and dad are here, they help with the Easter Egg hunt, they sit down and help their children make crafts, so it’s great.”
The event raised enough money to cover the expenses and all the kids had a great time, Sallafranque said.
