New to the region, yet revitalizing an earlier edition, was Thorne’s own Christmas Craft Show and Bake Sale, offering everything from delicious homemade treats to knitting, jewellery, home décor, and much more.
Featuring 25 vendors jam-packed into the dining hall, the Thorne Community Recreation Association (TCRA) organized event brought guests out Saturday to shop a wide variety of local products.
Organizer Joyce McCleary Binder said it was an unbelievable response from vendors, as they had an amazing turnout for their first show. She explained that there had been some requests from the community that such a show come together in Thorne, and that when she set out to put it together, the number of sellers quickly snowballed.

As well, she was blown away by the donations from the vendors to the TCRA. Everyone gifted an item to be sold, with those profits supporting the host.
McCleary Binder explained that a few years ago, there used to exist a similar event in Thorne, but that it was specifically a craft sale. The TCRA show was a place for both shopping and snacking, she added, pointing out all the sweets and baking accompanying many tables.
While it was the first show, McCleary Binder said she planned to poll all the vendors to see if they would return for another Christmas show in 2019.
“We just hope there’s another one next year,” she said.
