A member of the Women’s Institute, a long standing local advocacy group in Shawville, Rilla Graham told The Equity that the group of women rallied together and donated diapers to Bouffe Pontiac.
During their monthly meetings at Grahams home they all decided to collect . . .
diapers not realizing how much they would collect. It started as an outreach effort from the organization.
“It was a suggestion by one of the girls thinking ‘what can we do to help a cause’ and that’s the idea that we came up with, so we did that,” said Graham.
The group delivered the diapers on March 9 to Bouffe Pontiac, noted Graham.
Graham mentioned that the non-profit organization has always advocated, rallied and created petitions for many issues in the community they find important. The most recent issue they have rallied behind was the shut down of the obstetrics unit at the Pontiac Hospital, which was presented in front of the National Assembly of Quebec.
The next big meeting is on April 27, where they will discuss together the issues that matter to them most, said Graham.
