COVID-19 cases emerged in two more MRC Pontiac municipalities on Jan. 7, Waltham and L’Îsle aux Allumettes, and the Pontiac service area (RLS) had five or less (minimum one) active cases as of Jan. 11.
The virus has been detected in eight different MRC Pontiac municipalities: . . .
Waltham, L’Îsles aux Allumettes, Shawville, Fort Coulonge, Mansfield et Pontefract, Otter Lake, I’Île du Grand Calumet and Campbell’s Bay, in addition to the Municipality of Pontiac (MoP). Each of those eight municipalities had five or less cases in total, and the MoP had 38 as of Jan. 11. The RLS Pontiac has had 60 total cases since the pandemic began.
Vaccinations got underway in the Pontiac last week, as the CHSLD Manoir Sacré Coeur, in Mansfield et Pontefract, were the first to have staff and residents receive them on Jan. 7. CISSSO media relations agent Marie-Pier Després said in an email to THE EQUITY that the Mansfield et Pontefract facility would come first, and that they “will also visit in the next few days the other CHSLDs located in the Pontiac.”
The Outaouais had 430 active cases (5,312 total, 4,749 recovered) as of Jan. 11, which is a decrease of 61 cases from Jan. 4. There had been a total of 14 deaths recorded in the region over the past week. There were also 26 hospitalizations, with two people in intensive care.
The region continues to deal with active outbreaks at 14 health care facilities: Hull Hospital, Hôpital et CHSLD de Papineau, Centre hospitalier Pierre Janet, Centre d’hébergement de la Vallée de la Lièvre, CHSLD de Gracefield, CHSLD Lionel Émond, CLSC et CHSLD de la Petite-Nation, Campus 3, Manoir Le Buckingham, Résidence Cité Jardin, Résidence La Gappe, RPA Chartwell Domaine Notre Dame, RPA Chartwell Monastère d’Aylmer and Village Riviera.
