The Lions Club which has been around for many years is one of the largest service club organizations with 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.

The Shawville chapter hosted an . . .

online auction for a second year to raise money to support the community. The auction ran from Dec 1 to the 15th with community members, and local businesses donating all sorts of items – such as turkey dinners, gift baskets, gift certificates, bird feeders – while getting creative in the spirit of giving.

The Christmas auction was finalized on Dec 15 and it was announced that they collected $10, 109.

Joanne Dumouchel, owner of Joanne’s Valu-mart and first-time organizer of the auction said it was a “very successful event” and told the Equity how generous folks from the community have been and that without everyone’s contribution this wouldn’t have been such a successful event.

“I want to thank everybody for being so generous, and giving up their time as well,” said Dumouchel.

Meanwhile a community staple, the 2022 Shawville Lions Community Calendar that was taken on by the Lionettes, will be continued by the Lions club since the Lionettes club disbanded earlier this year. Because the Lions thought the calendar was too important to lose they plan to continue the tradition. If you are already a member you can expect to receive your calendar, for anyone who isn’t, contact Sara Knox at 613-312-9070 or ask any Shawville Lion member to set you up.
