The children were more than a little excited when Santa arrived at the annual Christmas spaghetti dinner put on by Le Patro and the Knights of Columbus in Fort Coulonge on Friday evening. The big man had to give out plenty of hugs and high fives before he could make it to his chair.

Children in Fort Coulonge got a chance to meet with the big man in red on Friday evening at St. Pierre’s Parish hall.
Every year, Le Patro teams up with the local Knights of Columbus to put on a Christmas spaghetti dinner, complete with presents and a visit from Santa. Organizer Suzanne Dazé said that this the event has been going on for close to 30 years.
“Oh my God … It’s been a while,” she said.

Dazé said that the dinner usually brings out about 80 families.
“The children get to see Santa Clause and they each get a gift,” she said. “We make sure there’s enough for everybody.”
Everyone filed through the kitchen as volunteers moved mountains of spaghetti and sauce to make sure nobody left hungry.
Much to the children’s delight, just as they were finishing their meal, a jolly old fellow strolled in to dole out the gifts. He was immediately swarmed by the youngsters and only made it to his chair after numerous hugs and high-fives.
Dazé was pleased with the turnout and said that this is a tradition she’s happy to keep going.
“It’s just … making sure everybody enjoys a nice meal all together,” she said.
