The Shawville Curling Club’s Wednesday night competitive league wrapped up a shortened season on Apr. 22, bringing out a good crowd of spectators for three final matches.
The club’s season was cut short as the ice plant went down in November due to a broken brine pump, and only re-started in early March. Even with the setback, 11 teams competed during those weeks for trophies and bragging rights. The club extends a big thank you to Jeff Russell for his work organizing the league during a difficult year.
The A division winner was Team K&L Dairy, made up of skip Joey Hannaberry, third Kyle Harris, second Jeff Hannaberry and lead Troy Griffin.
The B division winner was Team Howard, made up of skip James Howard, third Andrew Simms, second Raymond Johnston and lead Carson Rusenstrom.
The C division winner was Team Bonnieshade, made up of skip Ian MacKechnie, and third Jerry Barber, second Tammy Davis and lead Tyler Tubman.
The daytime curlers also held their year-end banquet on Thursday Apr. 23, celebrating their season finale. The club is grateful for the Thursday afternoon crew who made significant fundraising efforts while the ice plant was down.
The winners of the Arnold Ireland Trophy for Monday men’s league were skip Bucky Harris, third Wade Ellison, second Rob McMunn and lead Chris Schouten.
Tuesday mixed league (Allard Deering trophy) winners were skip Wayne Park, third Ray Johnston, second Lucienne LaSalle and lead Jackie Ralston.
Thursday mixed league (Presidents Trophy) winners were skip Andre Barre, third Helen Routliffe, second Ray Johnston, and lead Lucienne LaSalle.
