The Bryson Recreation Association kicked off its summer season on Saturday with a one-day ball tournament and family fun event at the RA grounds.

There were plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied all day, including bouncy castles for the kids, a soccer-baseball game, as well as a market where kids could sell goods they had made.

“It’s our one-day fun day, swinging into summer event,” said RA volunteer Shyloh Pasqua. “It isn’t necessarily about making money, it’s just a fun day to bring families out, community bonding, that kind of fun stuff.”

Six teams participated in the softball tournament, with games happening all day. The Bombers emerged as champions of the tournament, while the Hitmen were runners-up. Pasqua said both teams donated their winnings back to the RA.

“We had a really good turnout this year, especially with kids,” Pasqua said.

Pasqua said it will be a busy summer for the RA. In addition to regular soccer and baseball happening at the RA grounds, programming will also be starting for their summer camp in the coming weeks. She said they will be having a poker run on July 18, as well as another softball tournament in the fall.
