The search for a 30-year-old Isle aux Allumettes man who went missing while snowmobiling on Feb. 12 has been suspended.

“The search has been suspended since last week and there’s nothing new to report,” said Sûreté du Québec spokescop Marc Tessier in an interview on Feb. 22.

He said the conditions were too unsafe to continue searching, and there is no definitive date for when it will start up again.

“When the divers [went out], it was very dangerous and one of the divers went under because the ice broke under his feet. When the divers worked in the water the ice very rapidly went over their heads.”
