DANFORD LAKE Dec. 28, 2017
A Danford Lake man was shot and killed by police on Dec. 28 after he shot an arrow at officers.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. the man’s father called police and told them his son was not well and had left home armed with a bow and arrow and an iron bar. Shortly thereafter, the man called police himself and told them to arrive within the next 20 minutes or he would kill his father.

Just before 11:00 p.m. police encountered a man in the street armed with a bow and arrow and an iron bar.
Police say the man shot an arrow at the officers who then returned fire using their service weapons.
The man was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The province’s independent police watchdog unit, the Enquêtes indépendantes du Québec (BEI) is investigating the shooting.
The BEI investigates all deaths that occur during police interactions.
Investigators were on scene from about 6:00 a.m. on Dec. 29 until 8:30 p.m. that night. The investigation is ongoing and the BEI asks anyone with information to get in touch via its website.
