The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociauxde l’Outaouais (CISSSO) is introducing several new positions to better serve rural communities.

CAQ Minister for the Outaouais, Mathieu Lacombe, speaking on behalf

of Health Minister Danielle McCann, made the announcement at a press conference in Chelsea on Friday.

The CISSSO will add four assistants to the multidisciplinary and community services directorate, one each for MRC Pontiac, des Collines, Papineau and Vallée-de-la-Gatineau. The assistant for Pontiac is Nicole Chaput. The CISSSO stated in a press release that the assistants will coordinate services and facilitate communication with the communities that they are serving.

In addition, it was also announced that there would be three coordinators added for peripheral hospitals in the region, including Pontiac Community Hospital. Gilbert Daoust was announced as the interim coordinator for PCH.

In the press release, Minister McCann states that the additional personnel will allow the health authority to better serve the communities in the region and will be well-equipped to tackle issues at the local level.

The following Monday, the CISSSO also announced the second break in obstetrics services at PCH this month, taking place from Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. to Feb. 19 at 8 a.m.. The breach was attributed to a lack of nursing staff.
