Pontiac Dec.9, 2021
Following a Dec. 9 press conference, Dre. Brigitte Pinard, a Gatineau doctor who specializes in public health and prevention, has confirmed that there are currently two cases of the Omicron variant in the Outaouais region. She stated that both cases were returned travellers from . . .
Africa. The infected travellers are in isolation, and no secondary infections have been linked to the individuals.
Forty-nine per cent of Quebec students between the ages of 5 to eleven have already been vaccinated across the province, and of the 1,300 students in Pontiac schools, only 236 students (26%) had been vaccinated as of the Dec. 9 press conference.
Dre. Pinard stressed the importance of remaining vigilant in order to limit community spread; this includes following known cases closely as well as rapid testing if there is a display of symptoms.
Pinard said that rapid testing kits will be sent home with students in the next week.
It was also mentioned that holiday gatherings of up to 20 vaccinated people will be allowed as of Dec. 23, 2021.
