It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …

The annual tree-lighting ceremony took place at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Shawville last Friday night, where the group sang Christmas carols to ring in the holiday season. From left: Sheridan Moffatt and Patti Moffatt led the carols, taking requests from the crowd on what to sing next.

The Shawville 4H Club had an impressive float for the Parade of Lights that took place on Nov. 25.

The Christmas spirit was apparent in the Pontiac over the last few days, as Shawville hosted it’s annual tree-lighting ceremony on Nov. 24 and the Parade of Lights on Nov. 25. Local businesses and individuals decked out their floats with a variety of coloured lights and tossed out candy to the eager youngsters.
On Sunday, Santa made an appearance in the Upper Pontiac, travelling through Chapeau on the back of a firetruck for the local parade.
Many businesses, as well as the local Lions Club and fire department, decked out a variety of vehicles for the event.
