The First People’s Innovation Centre (FPIC) is holding a series of Indigenous cooking events in the coming days and providing free meals to Indigenous elders.

website, the “FPIC seeks to be a standard-bearer for innovative social initiatives, in which Indigenous and non-Indigenous people collaborate to promote and realize the full potential of First Peoples, in a context of authentic and continuing reconciliation.”
The organization, based in Gatineau, is a non-profit which seeks to support Indigenous people through social and technological innovation whether in cities or their communities with a particular emphasis on Indigenous pride.
“Thanks to funding from Santé et Services Sociaux Québec, QADA, the First Peoples Innovation Centre has the honour of being able to organize Indigenous cooking activities for elders in Campbell’s Bay. First Nations, Inuit and Métis elders are welcome (with or without a card),” a public notice stated.
Three activities will be organized in Campbell’s Bay on Nov. 11, Nov. 18 and Nov. 25. The activities will take place at the Lions Club. Registrations are mandatory because places are limited.
An Indigenous catering service will be on-site from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., participants will have access to a delicious free traditional meal and will be able to chat with each other.
