On Saturday, Killarney’s Bar in Shawville was packed with brightly coloured jerseys for the second annual Faye Greer Memorial darts tournament.

Organizer Tanya Greer said that she organized the tournament as a way of honouring her mother.

“She played darts here for several years. It’s our way of coming out, having some fun, and just shooting darts and everything she loved to do,” she said. “She loved people, she loved darts, she loved getting out.”

Though the local dart league was well-represented, Greer said that the event also drew attendees from Aylmer and Renfrew. She said that they would be putting some of the money raised by the tournament to upgrade the bar’s darts facilities, such as backboards.

“Part of the proceeds will go back to giving something to the dart league in honour of my mom,” she said.

After a hard day of throwing, the “‘Frew Crew” made up of Terry Wall, Laura Warren and Rob Gallagher came out on top.
