The Luskville Community Centre was packed with families on Friday night as the Groupe Action Jeunesse (GAJ) hosted its annual talent show.
The non-profit recreation group, combined with additional children from the local daycare, hosted 11 acts by children on stage, from piano and fiddling performances to several dance numbers. The theme this year was “Luskville goes Nashville” and there were plenty of cowboy hats and boots throughout the room.
Bianca Denis, GAJ’s treasurer, said that they offered a wide variety of dress-up and craft activities for the children prior to the performances. By the time the show was about to start, they were nearing capacity of the building.
“Luskville’s a small town, there’s not much, so our organization makes sure that kids have sports and events like this where they can get together as a group,” she said.
In addition to the children performing on stage, franco-Ontarian country singer Kristine St-Pierre closed out the evening with her tunes.
Denis added that they were pleased with the turnout.
“It’s a full crowd tonight,” she said. “This is great because it brings the community together and it’s one of the things Groupe Action Jeunesse is really proud of.”

Le groupe de loisirs à but non lucratif, combiné à d’autres enfants de la garderie locale, a présenté 11 numéros d’enfants sur scène, allant de performances au piano et au violon à plusieurs numéros de danse. Le thème cette année était « Luskville à la Nashville » et il y avait beaucoup de chapeaux de cow-boy et de bottes dans toute la salle.
Bianca Denis, trésorière du GAJ, a déclaré qu’ils avaient offert une grande variété d’activités de déguisement et d’artisanat aux enfants avant les représentations. Au moment où le spectacle était sur le point de commencer, ils approchaient de la capacité maximale du bâtiment.
« Luskville est une petite ville, il n’y a pas grand-chose, donc notre organisation s’assure que les enfants ont des sports et des événements comme celui-ci où ils peuvent se réunir en groupe », a-t-elle déclaré.
En plus des enfants qui se produisaient sur scène, la chanteuse country franco-ontarienne Kristine St-Pierre a clôturé la soirée avec ses mélodies.
Denis a ajouté qu’ils étaient satisfaits de la participation.
« C’est une foule nombreuse ce soir », a-t-elle déclaré. « C’est formidable parce que ça rassemble la communauté et c’est une des choses dont le Groupe Action Jeunesse est vraiment fier. »
