Organizers of the Bryson RA annual craft sale were pleased with the turnout at their event despite weathering one of Pontiac’s first snow falls of the year.
“We have 18 vendors and we’ve had more people coming through than we thought we would,” said RA committee member Wanda Lance, “even though it always . . .
seems to snow no matter what day we pick for our sale.”
Shoppers meandered the treasure trove of handcrafted items in search of decorations, gifts and stocking-stuffers for themselves and loved ones.
Tables filled with fresh greenery arrangements, personalized items including coffee mugs, ornaments and blankets.
Anyone looking for unique decor items such as floral centerpieces, decorated wooden ladders; skis; signs and shutters had a wide variety to choose from at Luskville resident Darlene Dagenais’ table. “I’ve been doing this as a hobby since 1992 and I like stick to vending at craft shows in Pontiac.”
An array of jewelry; cosmetics; cookware; spices; jams; pickles; salsas; scent diffusers; wax melts and environmentally-friendly cleaning products were also available.
Connie Wickens-Danis, who recently moved to Shawville from Perth, ON since she retired, said, “It’s my first time at this Bryson sale, but I enjoy shopping at these craft sales to show my support for small businesses.” She walked away holding a lantern she had just purchased to commemorate members of her family who had passed away.
The youngest entrepreneurs present under the watchful eye of their mother Julie Jones, were sisters Abby and Macy Dagenais who offered an array of handcrafted scrunchies they had fashioned from printed, solid and festive fabrics. Though the sisters have sold their creations via facebook last year, they haven’t been able to meet the demands of selling both online and in craft venues this year, according to Jones who said the girls have been preparing their stock since September.
Tickets were available for a selection of items donated by each of the vendors and were raffled off at the end of the evening.
