On Dec. 4, dozens of people gathered to celebrate the Bryson Golden Age Club’s 40th anniversary at the local Lions Hall, with the daughter of the group’s first president at the helm.
There was plenty of food and an enormous cake to feast upon, as well as a wide array of door prizes to be won.
Club President Bonnie St. Pierre has been at the helm for 19 of the past 21 years, following in the footsteps of her father, Lionel, who was one of the organization’s founders.
She explained that the group, which boasts 83 members, gets together once a week to play cards as well as exercise and other activities.
“We do a meal twice a year, one in June and the other for Christmas,” she said. “Everybody kind of chips in, it’s nice.”
Past President Eric Hodgins was the MC for the evening and acknowledged the contribution of the St. Pierre family to the local community.
“That’s the family dedication to the Bryson Golden Age,” he said.
He also thanked the members for all their efforts.
“Thank you for all your support,” he said. “With your help, we will continue for many years to come.”
