A section of Route 301 will see closures in alternating directions this week to allow for the grading and paving of a five-kilometre stretch of the road.
In a July 31 email notification, Transports Québec said the road between chemin Crawford in Thorne and rue Proulx in Otter Lake would be partially closed from Aug. 3 to Aug. 7 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
During this time, only one lane of traffic will remain open, allowing for only one direction of traffic to pass at a time. The speed limit in the construction zone will be set to 70 km/h.
This partial closure of Route 301 is separate from the full closure that had originally been scheduled for last week.
Transports Québec confirmed the 1.5-kilometre stretch of Route 301 that was set to be completely closed between July 27 and Aug. 4 has remained open as planned construction work had been delayed.
On July 29, ministry spokesperson Isabelle Dorais said the planned culvert replacement had yet to begin because of “operational constraints”, and said the work would begin in the coming weeks. A new alert will be published to Québec 5-1-1 once new dates for the closure are set.
