Heartfelt sympathies are extended to the Côté and Foran families, as Willy Côté passed away on Jan. 10. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife of 50 years, Margaret Ann, his son Adam, and all of Willy’s loved ones at this sad time.
Tom and Leona Murdock wish to send out birthday wishes to their niece, Marion Cochrane, as she celebrated on Jan. 13th. Marion is a very special lady to them, and they are wishing her all the best in this New Year.
We also have birthday wishes going out to Julia Bernier and Sharon Richards-Young on the 16th, and to the Jan. 17 birthday club: Christopher Provost, Vikki Stanley, Joanne McMurray, Meagan McCann, and Tracey McColgan. Happy birthday to Rhett Duquette and Ryan Nugent, both on the 18th, to Katrine-Anne Villeneuve on the 19th, and to Kristen Stanley on the 21st. Best wishes to all who are celebrating this week.
We had a special service on Sunday at Quyon United Church, as we welcomed three new people into our congregation by baptism. Dannah Draper, along with her and Brandon Nugent’s daughters, Charlotte and Penelope, were baptized by Pastor Patricia Power. It was a beautiful service, and it was so nice to have the Nugent and Draper families there to celebrate this special occasion.
This coming Friday night, the Quyon Community Association will be hosting a Trivia Night at Gavan’s Hotel. This edition will have a Sesquicentennial theme, as Quyon is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. We are looking forward to a fun night out, and can’t wait to see what the QCA has in store for us.
In the spirit of Quyon’s Sesquicentennial year, the Quyon Pastoral Charge is looking forward to another special service this coming Sun., Jan. 19, as we will be opening the time capsule that was filled and sealed by our congregation in Jan. 2000. This was a project that was initiated by Laurie MacKechnie at that time, with the intention to open it 25 years later, and we are looking forward to seeing Uncle Laurie’s project through. Most of us have no recall of what might have been put in there, so it should be a fun morning of reminiscing as it is opened. Anyone who wishes to join us for the opening of the Time Capsule is welcome to attend. The service will be at Quyon United Church at 10:30 a.m..
