Two young women from the Pontiac played for the Dodge Cup champions, the Gatineau Dynamite, at the tournament held between April 7 and April 10. Playing in the M15 AA category, Hannah Twolan and Lana Gibbons swept all six games they played.

“I feel winning my first ever . . .

Dodge Cup is really an experience that I’ll never forget,” said Twolan, who won MVP at the tournament. “The team and the coaches were amazing and overall, it was a fun season. I think this was one of the most fun years that I’ve had in my life.”

“They had quite a successful year,” said James Gibbon, father of Lana. Two weeks before winning the Dodge Cup, the provincial wide tournament in Quebec, the team won the Eastern Ontario championship in Kanata.

“It’s pretty exciting. Especially this time right because it’s the Quebec championships. You always want to win that one,” said James.

He went on to say that the tournament rekindled Lana’s love of playing hockey after a lull caused by COVID-19 shutting down games.

“It feels really good,” said Lana. “I love everything about hockey. I see myself playing hockey for at least a really long time from now.”

“I definitely want to keep playing hockey,” said Twolan.
