Earlier this month, PHS wrapped up its annual holiday food drive. In total PHS donated $350 and 792 pounds of non-perishable items to Bouffe Pontiac.

Alongside the food drive, PHS also participated in two local angel trees. PHS teacher, Lindsay Woodman, helped facilitate PHS involvement with the angel trees. When asked to describe PHS contribution, Woodman shared that PHS “collected presents for 15 children who live in communities from Quyon to Fort-Coulonge to Otter Lake. Since we are a high school, we selected angels for teenagers because they are likely for our students.”

Students and staff had the opportunity to participate by selecting an angel and then buying a present based on the suggestions listed on the back of the angels. In addition to gifts, cash donations were also given so extra presents could be purchased. Woodman summarized the event as “a huge success.”

With a common goal of supporting the local community during the holiday season, both the annual holiday food drive and the angel tree have given PHS students and staff excellent opportunities to give back to the communities that so generously support our students, programs and teams year after year.
