On Oct. 29 the Shawville-Clarendon Fire Department arrived at C62 Fourth Concession to a log house ablaze. At around 8:50 p.m. four fire trucks and about 16 firefighters arrived on scene and saw that the house was “engulfed in flames, said Fire Chief Lee Laframboise. The fire was of an “undetermined cause,” Laframboise said, and they do not know when the fire started.

Fortunately, the house was empty and the owners of the house were not on the property.

In addition, there was a shed 20 feet away that caught on fire due to the extreme heat of the house fire.

If they had not been called when they were, Laframboise said it would have been a domino effect and the neighbouring houses would have also been affected.

The firefighters were able to tame it, as they arrived before it spread too far.

By the time the fire department had put the fire out and cleaned up, it took them around seven hours, according to Laframboise.
