The Pontiac service area (RLS) went back down to five or less (minimum one) active cases as of Dec. 14, down from eight last week, and has had 50 total cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Within the RLS, the Municipality of Pontiac (MoP) has had . . .

35 total cases while six different municipalities within the MRC Pontiac have had five or less: Campbell’s Bay, Fort Coulonge, L’Île du Grand-Calumet, Mansfield et Pontefract, Otter Lake and Shawville.

Pontiac MNA André Fortin made a statement on Dec. 11 declaring that the MRC Pontiac should remain an orange zone despite the likelihood of MRC Vallée de la Gatineau and MRC Papineau going red due to recent case spikes.

It was announced that both Vallée de la Gatineau and Papineau were being designated as red zones effective Dec. 17 in a press release from the CISSSO on Dec. 14.

Premier François Legault was scheduled to announce new restrictions on Dec. 15, but they were not made available in time for print.

The Outaouais had 343 active cases (3,995 total, 3,559 recovered) as of Dec. 14, which is an increase of 65 from last week. There were a total of 21 hospitalizations with one person in intensive care.

The region also continues to deal with active outbreaks at 10 health care facilities: Maniwaki Hospital, CHSLD La Pietà, CLSC et CHSLD de la Petite-Nation, Manoir Sainte-Marie, Pavillon de la Paix, Résidence Château de l’Île, Résidence La Belle Époque, Résidence La Gappe, RPA Chartwell Domaine Notre-Dame and RPA Chartwell Jardins Notre-Dame.
