The air was thick with dust and the pounding of horse’s hooves at RS Ranch in Mansfield over the weekend for the fifth annual rodeo.

On Saturday morning, a dozen riders turned out for the Performance class and Halter class, with a few more turning up for Gymkhana in the afternoon.

RS Ranch owner Suzie Carrier said that there were 22 classes of competition over the course of the day, with riders of all ages participating.

She estimated that the split between adults and kids was roughly 50/50.

On Sunday, there were three classes of obstacle courses competitions planned for the day.

Carrier said that she began hosting the rodeo as a good practice for competitions later in the summer, which is why she always hosts in May.
