On April 5, a cheque for $1,200 was given to Le Patro in Fort Coulonge for their fall and winter activities, courtesy of Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart program.
Chris Beimers, assistant manager at Shawville Canadian Tire, explained that the program aims to make sports and activities more affordable for children.

“They can apply for either money or equipment,” he said. “Last year we did the Scouts Jamboree. It’s something that everybody can apply for: schools, service clubs, R.A.s.”
“It’s also something that not too many people know about,” added general manager Jean-Philippe Chartré. “The program has quite a lot of money and it’s for anybody that needs it.”
Suzanne Dazé, director of Le Patro, explained that the money would cover a broad range of expenses and activities, from snowshoeing to fat biking.
