A Gatineau woman was taken to hospital over the weekend after she struck a tree while snowmobiling in Thorne.

Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Marc Tessier said that emergency crews were called to chemin Schock around 2 p.m. on February 10.

The 50-year-old woman was riding in a group of four snowmobiles on a trail nearby when she lost control and struck a tree.

Tessier said that the woman was transported to Pontiac Community Hospital with several fractures but noted that her injuries were not considered life-threatening. He added that the crash was not caused by excessive speed or alcohol consumption.
