The Municipality of Shawville is asking residents to reduce their water consumption as a preventative measure.
The town is beginning work on . . .
the water tower in early August, so the request is being made to avoid the potential of a watering ban at that time.
According to an email to THE EQUITY from Jessica Nilsson, Shawville’s water specialist, the municipality is hoping they don’t have to restrict residents any further, but that is contingent on consumption going down now.
The purpose of the water tower work is to replace the three top rings of the structure, and Nilsson said this work should take two to three weeks to complete.
Once the water tower work begins, all the water will need to be emptied. Residents should expect to see changes in the water pressure, but there will be no impact on the quality of the water.
