The Pontiac got in the Halloween spirit by dressing up like their favorite heroes and villains. With parties held all over the region, The Equity went to a few to showcase the great costumes.
At Le Patro in Fort Coulonge, Lisa Soucie coordinator of activities planned a fun-filled trail with activities along the way and different stops with treats. They had about 335 kids and parents registered that showed up, and six local businesses contributed to giving out candy. They had hot cocoa, soup and a campfire going along the way to keep the kids all cozy. “It was very well received,” said Soucie.
One of the businesses that was present was the men’s shelter in Campbell’s Bay, a representative Jean Paulin, came in with three baskets and was out very quickly he said. The reason he was participating was to let the community know they are here, he stated. “It is just to have a presence in the community and if anyone asks, we tell them what we’re doing, but pretty much just letting them know we’re here. We’re here to help. It’s not just men, its families and kids, no matter what we can find a solution,” said
After the event they will be taking down all the decorations and gearing up for all the Christmas festivities she said.
Over at Otter Lake, the Native Alliance held a party for the kids with a costume contest, a haunted house, and many activities. “We’re just trying to get all the kids back together after covid just get everybody out with their bright smiles and their costumes and just play some games and have some fun and have something to eat,” said Tina LaSalle, the emcee.
Joanne Labadie, Sophie Chatel’s riding assistant, highlighted that Chatel was unable to be there but sent her on her behalf and really regretted not being there. Labadie was also one of the judges in the costume contest and said she had a great time with the little ones.
Annette Gravelle, president of the alliance couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout of the party. “It’s been very nice and the kids seem to be happy,” she said. Happy with how it turned out Gravelle said they will definitely plan another one next year as this one was their first.
Shop Shawville organized trick or treating for the kids to walk around main street and meet the different businesses.
Quyon and Fort-Coulonge held parties which had a great turn out and both held a costume contest that was well received by everyone.
