PONTIAC June 17 2020
Hi Pontiac readers, it is great to meet you!
I’m Stephen, and I’m extremely excited to be the joining the crew as the new local government reporter.
I am 22 years-old, and I recently graduated from . . .
the Algonquin College journalism program in Ottawa.
While I was at Algonquin, I got the chance to wear both the reporter and editor hats while writing for several different publications. It was challenging at times, but it was a lot of fun. I learned a lot through those two school years, and nothing was more valuable than realizing how much the role of responsible journalism matters.
I also realized how much I love writing, and I hope that my enjoyment for the craft spills onto the pages of THE EQUITY.
I’ll be writing a lot about council meetings, business events, school affairs, and inevitably a lot more all over Pontiac.
I think it’s important to mention that my new position is a result of a federal government grant designed to boost local journalism. I’m very excited for the opportunity.
Beside my sometimes overly serious journalistic interests, I try to chill out and relax as well. I really enjoy camping, running, watching UFC, biking, and taking photos.
Having grown up in a small town in southern Ontario, I’m a big fan of the feeling you get from living in a close-knit community.
I look forward to meeting many of you out and about throughout Pontiac, please do not hesitate to say hi and introduce yourself.
