Last Wednesday, police in the Municipality of Pontiac nabbed a speed demon on chemin de la Baie and slapped him with . . .
some hefty fines.
At around 7:40 a.m., MRC des Collines police clocked a vehicle travelling 131 km/h in a 50 km/h zone and, once they caught up to the 26-year-old male driver, gave him four tickets totalling $2,140 and 18 demerit points, along with suspending his licence for 30 days and towing his car.
Sgt. Martin Fournel said that the defendant lives on the road and the police set up a speed trap following several complaints from neighbours in the residential area.
“We did some surveillance … because we got complaints from people in the neighbourhood,” he said. “[They] said that car in particular is driving really fast. We took care of it. School started this week, and it happened at 7:40 … It [was] bus time actually.”
