On March 22, around 100 people gathered at the Thorne Community Recreation Association(TCRA) Hall in Ladysmith for some homemade food and good company, put on by the local recreation association.
Around six volunteers were hard at work in the kitchen that evening, keeping an eye on the large pots of noodles and doling out bowls of salad.
“I was here eight hours two days ago preparing sauce,” said volunteer Jeannine Giguère. “We did nine crock pots and put them in the fridge to cool down.”
In addition, Giguère and her mother-in-law Lucienne baked up 27 loaves of fresh bread for the occasion the day before, and attendees were draining the basket as fast as volunteers could slice more up.
The TCRA hosts dinners roughly once a month to raise money for their organization, as well as getting the community together on a regular basis.
