The night curlers at the Shawville Curling and Squash Club held their year-end awards banquet on April 20. Starting out with a social hour, the evening featured a dinner catered by Café 349.

Club President Jeff Russell led the presentation of the trophies, with help from a few guests.

After the winners got their accolades, attendees got the chance to see a real Pontiac sporting legend in action.

Following a no-show by would-be challenger Andrew Rowat, local basketball phenom Rick Younge was forced to make some ceremonial free throws by himself at the hoop set up on the squash court. The ball was auctioned off for $105 to Kyle Harris, to go towards prizes for the 2019/20 season.

Winners were as follows:

Steve Allen Trophy: Brett MacKechnie, Josh Armitage, Andrew Rowat and Amanda MacKechnie

Wednesday Night A Div: Brett MacKechnie, Josh Armitage, Andrew Rowat and Amanda MacKechnie

Wednesday Night B Div: Trevor Tanguay, Bailey Henderson, Owen McCredie and Greg McCredie

Wednesday Night C Div: Jerry Hannaberry, Tim Palmer, John Alexander and Troy Griffin

Friday first draw: Jeff Russell, Trevor Fraser, Matt Carmichael and Amy Taylor

Friday second draw: Ian MacKechnie, Greg Hayes, Angela Sally and Emily Smith

Friday third draw: Jeff Russell, Vaughn Bastien, Tammy Davis, Judy Stephens and Alain Pagé

Senior Trophy: Joe Morris, Ian MacKechnie, Trevor Tanguay and Joey Hannaberry

Intermediate Trophy: Kyle Harris, Chris MacKechnie, Scott Campbell and Greg Hayes

Junior Trophy: Vaughn Bastien, Tammy Davis, Dalton Cluff and Sara Knox

Following the awards ceremony, local basketball phenom Rick Younge took some ceremonial free throws after the cowardly no-show of challenger Andrew Rowat. The ball was auctioned off to Kyle Harris for $105, to go towards prizes for the 2019/20 season.
