Hydro Quebec has advised boaters in the region that a section of the Ottawa River will be temporarily closed to watercraft while crews replace power lines that span the water.

Work on the 120kV Bryson-Chenaux line will take place from . . .

Sept. 14 to 17 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The line travels from the Bryson generating station switchyard across the river to Ontario, with a 1.6 km section passing through the Litchfield Industrial Park. Work on the line began on Aug. 31, but the dismantling of the cables crossing the river will take place this week.

Hydro Quebec community relations advisor Alain Paquette said that security guards hired by the contractor will be patrolling the area in boats to prevent citizens from getting too close to workers. They will only be on duty during the 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. work window.

“It’s really for security measures to protect our workers and the river users,” Paquette said.
