The Quyon Lions have begun to settle into their new home at the new community centre in town, and are seeking new blood to bolster their numbers.
Lion Bob Young, one of the club’s charter members, explained that . . .
there were several delays that kept them from gathering at the new centre, but that their first meeting in the building will take place in October.
“Our Quyon Lions Club has been kind of stagnant ever since the municipality decided that the community centre down there needed to be torn down and replaced,” Young said. “Due to a number of things, the floodwaters and the COVID, it’s been a long time opening up … In the interim, the Lions Club has struggled for members, simply because when you’re stagnant like that there’s not much interest.”
The club, which was chartered in 1967, currently has about 14 members, according to Young.
He said that they’ve decided on a change to their admissions policy to allow women to join the club, in an effort to cast a wider net for membership. Anyone looking to join can contact a current member for more information.
