The rink was full at the Shawville Curling Club on Saturday as the Quyon Lions Club hosted its 44th annual bonspiel.
The event featured . . .
16 teams, with each team playing two six-end games.
The event is a mainstay on the Quyon Lions Club social calendar and attracts people from all over the Pontiac.
The winning team is decided by a combination of wins, ends played and points, if necessary.
This year’s winners J.P. & Co. featuring Jean Paul Coté, Troy Coté, Adam Bernier and Vicky Leach.
Although the winners don’t get to take home a grandiose prize, they did get their hands – and will have their names engraved – on the trophy and a year’s worth of bragging rights.
Asked how competitive the bonspiel tends to get, a wry smile shot across the face of organizer and Lions Club Vice President, Glen Leach.
“It’s for fun only,” he said with a laugh.
