Congratulations to Patrick Trudeau and Sonia Kenney who welcomed their first child on Feb. 1. They had a baby girl and they have named her Effie. Best wishes to the new mom and dad as they settle in with their little girl.

Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Austin Trudeau who passed away on Jan. 29 at the age of 94. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones at this sad time.

The Quyon Community Association has recently announced that the first Friday of every month for the next few months, they will be offering a Grand in Your Hand draw on their Facebook page with the proceeds going towards new flags for our town for the upcoming Canada Day celebrations. This past Friday, there was enough interest for them to run two draws and the big winners were Tim Keon and Bill Hamilton. Congratulations Tim and Bill. If you haven’t joined the Quyon Community Association Facebook page yet, you are missing out. They are offering amazing draws each week as well as an upcoming Trivia Night and so much more, as they prepare for Canada Day. It is wonderful to see this enthusiasm for keeping the community spirit alive in our town. Thanks to the QCA for all they are doing.

I’d like to give a little shout-out to my niece, Danica Provost, as her school volleyball team won all of their games at their tournament this past Saturday. I was also excited for my nephew, Noah Young, and his buddies as their novice hockey team competed in their first hockey tournament in Hull this past weekend. Kudos to all of the parents who had their kids out this past weekend for sporting events during that cold snap.

Birthday wishes are going out to Grace Draper and Marie-Eve Provost who both celebrate today and to Kane Flemming on the Feb.9. We also have birthday wishes going out to Elaine Woermke who is turning five on Feb. 11, to Barb Atwell on Feb. 12, to Kira Stanley on Feb. 13 and to Brian Young on Feb. 14. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.

Wishing everyone a very happy Valentine’s Day. I am looking forward to the Quyon Legion’s take out Valentine’s dinner that day, it will be my little way of celebrating the occasion. Have a wonderful day with your loved ones.
