The Ministry of Culture and Communication announced Cultural Development Agreements with the Outaouais for a three year period on Feb. 19, with a contribution of $1,779,542, including $91,350 for the MRC Pontiac.
The money will . . .
in turn be used by the MRC to put toward projects that are proposed to them, with an emphasis this year on activities for seniors, cultural leisure, and historical and heritage projects.
According to the MRC, “The Cultural Development Agreements aims to improve and support the cultural vitality of the region for the benefit of the entire population. The type of projects that are funded must include structuring and innovative actions, promoting the development and consolidation of cultural vitality while respecting local and regional priorities.”
The agreement is backdated to last year, with its term being from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023.
In an email to THE EQUITY, MRC communications officer Colleen Jones explained that the regional municipality is asking that people interested in submitting projects for funding should consider: whether the project is new, if it is creative or innovative, the project’s reach, what is being presented and whether it fits within the government’s priorities.
“Projects can vary from creating any number of artistic pieces from a variety of artistic components (such as visual, dramatic, musical, crafts, etc.), educational programming as well as historical and heritage values,” Jones wrote.
