The Piscine Pontiac Pool Committee is pleased with the results of their recent survey of support for their . . .

Aqua Gym project. Committee President Todd Hoffman said that he wouldn’t have detailed data from the consultant that performed the survey until later this week, but was encouraged by what he had seen so far. Respondents were either contacted by phone or filled out an online survey which questioned their thoughts on the various services the committee plans to offer, as well as how much they would use the facility.

Hoffman said that around 83 per cent of the residents surveyed thought that it was very important to have a combination gym and pool in the region. He didn’t have the exact number of people contacted but said that it was several hundred, which he thought was a representative sample of the population.

He said the majority of participants were contacted by the phone survey, which took place in December. The committee recently received some concept drawings and a floor plan of the facility from an architect, which they shared with The Equity. Hoffman said that the project is expected to cost around $10.8 million and the next step is to revise their business plan and apply for provincial grants, as well as seeking corporate partners.
