Since the holidays are looking different this year, a Sand Bay author is giving Pontiacers something to pass the time.
Sandra Lemire Wolf held a contest for three people to win a copy of her newest book Pour le temps qu’il me reste.
“A woman who goes to the dentist and they told her there’s something wrong and that she should . . .
go and see a doctor,” Wolf said of her book, which was published in February. “Then she discovers that she has leukemia. Instead of talking to her friends and family, she decides to rent a car and go on a road trip to live the best she can in the time she has to live.”
Wolf decided to host the contest, which ended on Dec. 18, because she had extra copies and knew that people would be looking for something extra to do during the restricted holiday season.
“Talking to people, they say what they’ll do is read since they can’t see their families,” she said. “I had a few copies at home. I was scheduled to go to many book fairs, but they were all cancelled because of COVID. The editor sent me a box of copies … so why not do a little contest?”
It was held on Facebook where entrants commented where they were from and how they would be spending the holidays. In the end, she ended up with over 340 entries from people both in and out of the Pontiac.
The winners were Tracy Sonya Cournoyer from Sorel, Sylvie Chrétien from Shawinigan and Manon Bilodeau from Mansfield. She made sure that one copy would remain in the region.
“One copy will be won here in the Pontiac, because there’s not many French authors around here, maybe somebody would like to win a book? I can’t decide by myself because I would send a copy to everyone,” she said with a laugh.
This is the second book Wolf has written, and she plans on writing more in the future. She is basing the next one in the Pontiac, and is hoping to get it out to the public sometime in 2021.
