Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police from the Campbell’s Bay detachment have arrested a man suspected of being connected to a case of fraud committed in two Shawville businesses on Dec. 12, 2024, according to a Mar. 18 police report.

Earlier this month, the SQ requested assistance identifying two individuals who were believed to have used a debit card lost by a woman to make purchases in two stores.

After receiving a public tip, police arrested and released a 54-year-old man from Bristol in connection to the case, according to their most recent report.

The file will be submitted to the province’s Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions for analysis, which will determine whether there are grounds for a charge.
