The Pontiac service area (RLS) had seven active cases as of March 15, marking an increase of seven cases in one day.

Some of those are due to an outbreak at the Pontiac Reception Center (CAP) in Shawville, where there are less than five cases among staff members according to the CISSSO. An investigation is underway and screening will be taking place this week.

As of March 14, the CISSSO’s COVID statistics listed the RLS at . . .

zero active cases out of a total of 75 since the pandemic began. That cumulative total jumped to 82 as of Monday.

The Municipality of Shawville continues to stand at nine cumulative cases since the pandemic began, while the Municipality of Mansfield et Pontefract remained at seven. The municipalities of Campbell’s Bay, Fort Coulonge, Île du Grand Calumet, L’Isle aux Allumettes, Otter Lake and Waltham have each had five or less. The Municipality of Pontiac cumulative total stood at 43.

The Outaouais had 204 active cases (6,647 total, 6,276 recovered) as of March 15, which is down

18 from last week. There were seven hospitalizations at the designated COVID-19 center, an increase of three from last week. The cumulative death toll stood at 167, with four deaths being recorded in the past week.

As of March 15, the region was dealing with just one health care facility outbreak, at CHSLD Lionel Émond in Gatineau.

The outbreak persists despite the facility being among the first ones in the Outaouais to receive vaccine doses for all staff and residents who wanted them.

As of March 12, there had been seven deaths among the 48 residents who contracted the virus as a result of the outbreak, while 20 residents had recovered, according to a CISSSO press release.

The release stated that the results of two ongoing investigations at the residence would be made public at the end of this week. One investigative analysis will be carried out by a team of physicians and professionals, while the other investigation will be performed by a Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) SWAT team that has been deployed by the Ministry of Health and Social Services.
