The annual open mic night put on by the Norway Bay Municipal Association was held at the basketball court in Norway’s Bay park. The event was attended by about 50 people. The audience paid an entrance fee and had the chance to buy some alcoholic beverages and snacks.
Proceeds from the event went to fund . . .
the various programs of the Norway Bay Municipal Association.
The event has been held since 2016, though it was skipped in 2020 due to covid.
Marc Richard and Emma MacKechnie helped organize the event, though Richard credited Jeff Frank as the night’s brainchild.
Despite it threatening to rain which would have forced the event indoors, there was only a light drizzle, allowing the event to go on as planned.
“It’s an event for people from the community to come with their instruments, and they will have a chance to play three or four songs for us, ‘’ said Richard.
The event saw multiple musicians line up to play.
“It’s been a hugely successful and welcomed event. I think people really, really enjoy this evening. And it’s just nice to see the smiles and the level of talent has been outstanding. It’s the people who just show up with their guitars from the community who play for the first time and just blow everyone away with their voice and talent. It’s always a neat surprise and a great evening.” concluded Richard.
