Nancy Dagenais-Elliott debuted a collection of new paintings at Café 349, all inspired by her surroundings and life on her farm.
Trying to search for the right landscape, Dagenais-Elliott realized it was everything in her own backyard, and thats where she pulled her inspiration from in this new exhibit, she said.
“I love the many moods that . . .
Mother Nature throws at me, her palette inspires me to try to replicate it. Look closely and you will see those purple and blue trees, the pink rocks and the orange skies.”
When asked what her collection of paintings are called she said, “This is me, Me voici!” Her art is a reflection of who she is, Dagenais-Elliott explained, and as she got older she saw the value in being able to express herself through her art.
Although she never did it full time or as a profession, she always took the time to hone her skills as an artist by taking workshops and classes and teaching herself different techniques.
It wasn’t until two years ago when she decided to retire that she has started creating art regularly and has found that its a space for her to be herself, she said.
Whether it be an hour or all day, alone or with her grandkids, art has been her happy place she said.
“Art is my passion, it’s my quiet place, my haven, and it allows me to discover who I am, to explore my many facets, to continue to grow and it keeps me wanting to learn, to get better, to see just what I can create next,” said Dagenais-Elliott.
Her exhibit will be on display until September 12, and her art can also be seen at the Little Red Wagon Winery and through her Instagram page @nancy_art_studio.
